The German/Polish European City GörlitzZgorzelec is already very familiar with the Hollywood movie business. Around a hundred movies have already been filmed either entirely or in part in the city on the Neiße River, including such award winning Hollywood productions as The Reader, Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, and most recently The Grand Budapest Hotel. The main location for shooting Wes Anderson's masterpiece, which opened the Berlinale film festival in early 2014, was the spectacular Art Nouveau department store in the center of Görlitz. Some producers and photographers have already recognized the trend and chosen specific hot spots in Görlitz to masterly showcase fashion and lifestyle. That's how, for example, the current TV commercial for the new fashion online shop "department 47" was created. Location scouts really appreciate in Görlitz, for example, the short distances and the local support: This keeps down production costs and promotes a relaxed and professional work climate. Since the German-Polish city Görlitz/Zgorzelec is located right in the heart of Europe, a one of a kind lifestyle has evolved that inspires all kinds of producers and artists.
The city is still an insider's tip for the fashion industry. But that's about to change: With Showfloor Berlin and the Polish label "Kedziorek," Görlitz will present itself for the first time ever at the Berlin Fashion Week as a location for shootings, fashion, new trends, and creativity.
