Landskron BrauManufaktur: One of the Best Beers in Germany

From June 2018

Several superlatives come together at Landskron BrauManufaktur: the brick building on the Neisse is one of the oldest industrial monuments still in production in the republic. Beers were already being brewed here as far back as 1869 according to the traditional art of brewing and the traditional fermentation process is maintained in open vats. Only with this craftsmanship can special aromas be developed, which can be enjoyed in a wide variety of styles – of top- and bottom-fermented Landskron beers. And although beer tastes are very individual, the quality of Landskron beers is objectively excellent. Perhaps the “toughest beer test in the world”, the DLG quality test of the German Agricultural Society, confirms that Landskron beers are always of very good quality – in 2018, five classic Landskron beers were awarded the gold medal.

The brewers also regularly create new varieties that are successfully placed on the market, thus bringing solid growth to the brewery in the highly competitive beer market. There are currently thirteen varieties available. Real beer connoisseurs swear by the gourmet beers and there is also Fassbrause for children. The company focuses not just on production, but also on experience.

Guests have been welcomed to the visitor center every day since 2013, where the Landskron world is on full display. This is also where the guided tours start through the 12-meter-deep vaulted cellars of the largest manufactory of its type in Germany – tastings included. If you want to be a brewer yourself, you can give brewing your own beer a try during a brewing seminar.

The building as a monument is also on demand as an event location. Public or closed events take place regularly in the Kulturbrauerei. At the annual “Braufest der Sinne”, the brewery plays host to a very special festival for three days with music and of course, good beer. The location has also served as a film set and thus contributed to Görliwood’s good reputation: for Jackie Chan’s “Around the World in 80 Days”, the brewery was transformed into the port of New York and for the film adaptation of the Swiss children’s classic “Papa Moll und die Entführung des Fliegenden Hundes”, thousands of hazelnuts were scattered in the brewhouse.

With around seventy-five employees, Landskron is also a training company and a popular employer in the region. The company supports sports clubs and is involved in the cultural sector. The brewery has been privately run again since 2006 and is part of the Dr. Lohbeck group of companies.
